Welcome to Second Grade!

Hello and Welcome to Second Grade! 

I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer!  As we begin a new school year, your child is bringing home a number of important documents for you to read and/or fill out.  Included in your child's mail, you will find my welcome letter, classroom blog information, the yellow emergency card (which we ask to have returned by this Thursday), and TESPTO membership information. 
I am very excited to be your child's teacher, and I look forward to working closely with you!

Arctic Animals

 

 

We have been studying nonfiction text and students researched Polar Animals.  During our study, the children learned about the habitat, life cycle, and adaptations of one animal they chose.  Click below to hear what we have researched.

 

 

Antarctica

On January 23, the children participated in a web cast with research scientists from Antarctica.  During the webcast the students learned many interesting facts about life as a research scientist on the coldest continent in the world!

The children have completed their world maps.  During our study, the children have learned about the seven continents, five oceans, four major mountain ranges, and  the five major rivers.  The children will bring their maps home soon. 

I
